33rd International Symposium on Social Work with Groups--LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA

The Association for the Advancement of Social Work with Groups (AASWG) is pleased to invite submissions of proposals for presentations at its 33rd International Symposium, to be held in Long Beach, California, USA, June 2 – 5, 2011. The Port of Long Beach is one of the world's largest shipping ports, and the city is home to residents from many cultures. One of Long Beach's most famous residents, the Queen Mary, is permanently docked in the Long Beach Harbor. The Queen Mary's journey began in 1936 when it made its maiden voyage from Southampton, England to Cherbourg, France. The next day the Queen Mary continued its voyage across the North Atlantic Ocean to Pier 90 in New York. The Symposium site will be the Queen Mary ship, which is now a hotel with an excellent reputation among international travelers. The ship/hotel is located in downtown Long Beach on the Pacific Ocean. It is close to major restaurants and entertainment, only a few blocks by water taxi, shuttle service, or foot to lively venues. Social group workers, social workers, researchers, teachers, supervisors, managers, students, group members, and all professionals who work in groups are invited to share their experiences, to trade ideas, and to discuss questions on this year’s theme, Social Group Work: We are All in the Same Boat.

This year's Symposium planning committee is hard at work and check back to the webpage often to see information about workshops, presentations and symposium overview.  For now, prepare your submission by checking out the call for proposals (see PDF below).  Online abstract submission will be available soon
