Election of Officers

            The Central Florida Chapter of the Association for the Advancement of Social Work with Groups, Inc. (AASWG) elected the first panel of officers on September 10, 2009. Members of the local AASWG chapter participated in the election and the slate of officers included several faculty members of the University of Central Florida (UCF) School of Social Work, local social workers, and UCF students from the bachelor and graduate programs. The officers serve for three years.

            Officers elected for the new chapter include: Dr. Olga Molina, Chair; Dr. Julia Buckey, Co-Chair; Betsy Swart, Treasurer; Julie Clifton, Treasurer; and Lloyd Duran, Student Representative. The Central Florida Chapter of the AASWG welcomes the new officers and members. What an exciting time for officers and members to be part of a growing organization!

Dealing with Small Group Conflict

            On Tuesday, January 26th, 2010, please join the Central Florida Chapter of the Association for the Advancement of Social Work with Groups, Inc. (AASWG) at the University of Central Florida Daytona Beach campus, Building 150, Room 101 from 6pm to 8pm. Dr. Dominique Moyse Steinberg, the celebrated author of The Mutual-Aid Approach to Working with Groups: Helping People Help One Another, and Treasurer of AASWG will present Dealing with Small Group Conflict.

            Dr. Moyse Steinberg is a dynamic presenter and UCF is pleased to offer the event to members of the community, faculty, students, and professionals from all disciplines. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be offered and there will not be a charge for this first-ever AASWG-sponsored event on the Daytona Beach UCF campus. If you haven’t decided to join the new Central Florida Chapter, this will be a great opportunity to meet local AASWG members and officers. Application forms will be available, and an AASWG meeting will immediately follow Dr. Moyse Steinberg’s presentation.
